Mark Atkinson has over 15 years of experience in the games industry, as a technical specialist, an engine architect and a team and company leader. Mark is a C++ expert and has an encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of game development, including all core engine systems, gameplay programming, game design, technical strategy and project management.
As a contractor for Code Mafia, Mark has worked on a number of high-profile titles across both PC and console platforms, including Burnout Paradise (EA Criterion), TimeShift (Saber Interactive / Vivendi Universal) and Manhunt 2 (Rockstar London). Mark's optimisation work on TimeShift drew this recommendation from Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive:
"Mark worked with us on contract to help wrap up TimeShift on the PC and PS3. He is extremely hard-working and possesses knowledge and skills that are reserved for a rare few in the industry. Saber is a very technical team and Mark was able to get into the context of complex code very quickly. He would be an asset to any game development company seeking either technical assistance or (as in Saber's case) low-level optimizations that improve a game's performance. Mark is truly one of the best in the business. I hope to work with him again in the near future."
Mark holds a First class honours degree in Computer Science.
